Lemon, Rosemary, & Sage Salt Rub

Cover graphic

Thanksgiving is next week and while each year I try to find a new recipe to try, one thing I do every year is brine my turkey.  You know, the whole dunk the bird in a bucket of salty water, trick.  It gets the turkey perfectly seasoned, juicy, and delicious!

Small scoop of salt rub

Well, this year I decided to change it up just a little bit.  Instead of dunking the bird in a liquid brine, I plan to dry brine it by coating it in this salt rub and letting it sit in the fridge overnight before cooking it the next day.  Oh boy!  I can't wait!

This rub is citrusy, lightly sweet, and comforting.  The lemon, rosemary, and sage all pair perfectly well together and make for a fantastic seasoning!

Close up of salt

I tried it out on a roasted chicken last week and, gosh, it was the best chicken I have ever had!  The skin was crispy, lightly seasoned (you wash the salt rub off before you place the chicken in the oven), and incredibly juicy!  Or just mix it up with a little softened butter and rub it all over the chicken before sticking it in the oven...mmm mmm mmm!
