Homemade Pop Tarts...who knew?!

So, I totally think I will be making my own homemade poptarts soon!  As a kid, I always loved poptarts, but now as an educated adult, I'm not sure I could buy them for my daughter.  I know...I'm depriving her of her childhood, blah, blah, blah.  But for some reason I find the jam much more appealing than the flavored high fructose corn syrup that burns the lid of mouth. Call me crazy, but homemade is just so much better!

I'll give an update once I try them, but I can almost guarantee these are going to be delicious!

Buttery Bread Machine Rolls

Just looking at these make my mouth water...

Not sure if everyone has a bread machine (don't have to have one) but it does make the mixing so much easier!
These are the best rolls ever...ENJOY!

1 cup warm millk
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
4 cups flour (I use 2 cups whole wheat, 2 cups bread flour)
2 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast

Add ingredients in order recommended for your machine (i.e, my machine requires liquid ingredients first, then the dry...VERY important to follow the recommendation). Run the DOUGH cycle. When complete, roll out dough and divide into 20-24 portions and shape into balls. Place on a greased baking sheet. Cover and rise for 15 mins. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 13-16 mins. Seperate rolls immediately to serve or cool on cooling rack.

I sometimes add a bit of molasses to the mix as well to add a nice auburn color and depth of flavor! These freeze really well and are great popped in the microwave for about 45 secs!

Julia Child...eat your heart out!

I got the "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" cookbook by Julia Child for Christmas.  Watch out!  Though I will not be creating a blog by following the cookbook, I do hope to somehow get a movie deal...
